Bread etc. 2.0 is now open in Jingan
Now there are two spots to get Shanghai's best shakshuka (and loads of crusty bread to sop up that sauce). Bread etc. has a shiny new second location, this one in Jingan, just near the corner of Nanjing Xi Lu and Tongren Lu.
On the menu and in the bakery cases, find all of the same delights that you love from the original location – flaky pastries, fruit-laden tarts, fresh sandwiches and rustic breads galore.
The two-floor space boasts a contemporary new design that helps the café fit in perfectly with its high-end retail neighbours in the city centre. It's essentially a stunning glass house, a chic, bright and shiny place to enjoy your bread-laden meal.
Be sure to get a good look at the awesome light bulb and dinner plate installation that hangs between the second floor and the first... pretty sweet.
There's also soon to be lots of outdoor seating for those of you who want to enjoy the sunshine. The team is in the process of filling out their big and beautiful terrace with both long high top tables and stools, as well as café tables with cosy benches. It's setting up to be a lovely spot to stop for a coffee and pain au chocolat should you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Nanjing Xi Lu for a while.
The café is currently in soft opening; open Monday-Friday 7am-6pm and weekends 10am-6pm, but expect it to move into full hours in a few weeks time.
